Thesis: The Manhattan Project had both positive and negative effects on the world with the introduction of nuclear power and weapons but had a mostly negative effect with the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the nuclear arms race, and the threat of absolute destruction. Also it affected the worlds politics and created a constant fear in many countries because of the imminent danger and capability of nuclear weapons.
Background: Countries such as Britain and Germany had already started working on a nuclear bomb during World War II even before the Manhattan Project was ever developed. It was 1944 and it seemed like the war would not end when Britain and the United States got together to make a solution. They wanted a weapon that would end the war in minutes, a weapon of absolute terror and destruction.
