- Due to the introduction of the atomic bomb via the Manhattan project, the world saw a new weapon that easily could be abused and in turn kill millions of people.
- Many countries, especially those who resent the US for one reason or another, have developed a great zeal in having access to nuclear weaponry or power. Because of this, many sanctions have been made against the bombs in order to protect world peace.
- The Cold War saw a very close encounter with the atomic bomb - during the Cuban Missile Crisis the world was on the brink of nuclear disaster: Cuba had Russia's nuclear warheads and threatened the US with them, while the US threatened to retaliate with other nuclear weapons. Fortunately, the bombs were not activated due to some form of agreement reached.
